This game is the BUILD close. GROW and LAUNCH close differently.

Fourteen of the sixteen scenarios below key on one test — Voice happened AND an adult genuinely received it — which is correct for BUILD, and only for BUILD. Carry it into a GROW or LAUNCH room and you will hunt for a receipt that is not meant to exist. The last two scenarios are GROW and LAUNCH, where the pupil's written line is the close.

BUILD

Closes on adult receipt — ring + R

The pupil makes the ring; the adult receives it and adds the initial, on the pupil's own printed sheet. The fourteen BUILD scenarios are calibrated for exactly this. Ring and R stand as taught — one copy, on the sheet, never transcribed.

GROW · LAUNCH

Closes when the pupil writes the line

Saying it aloud starts the loop; writing it is what closes it. No adult initial, no signatory, no receipt mark — nothing stored, copied or counted. The adult is audience, never verifier. Pass is always allowed.

The day-close re-read — the pupil reading their own line back at the end of the day — is a strengthening, not a requirement: a day whose close never happened is still a closed day. Never "catch it up tomorrow" — a backlog of unread lines becomes a portfolio someone audits, which is the thing this design removes.

The false record you will meet in week one — "receipt by the back door." You are in a GROW room. There is no R box on the sheet, no initial line, nowhere for an adult mark. Nothing is missing — the loop closed when the pupil wrote the line. A TA who supplies a receipt here (an initial, a "seen by", a tick) is not filling a gap; they are inventing an audience-token the pathway never asks for. It is the same defect as end-of-term R-decoration — a mark recording an audience that did not need to happen — arriving from the GROW end. On GROW and LAUNCH, no adult initial is expected, at every tier: supported, standard and stretch alike.
